In its goal to reduce staff vacancy levels, the Internal Audit Service through Central Internal Audit Unit has recruited 28 internal auditors during the 2017-2018 financial year. The recruited auditors are 9 internal auditors at grade I and 19 assistant internal auditors at grade K. The recruitment has reduced vacancy levels of the Service from 50% to 38% and plans are underway to reduce it to the targeted 20% in the 2018-2019 financial year. The newly recruited auditor will assist greatly in increasing audit coverage as well as ensuring that audits are completed on time.
