The Internal Audit Service plans to conduct 137 audit assignments during the financial year 2017/2018.  According to a newly released consolidated workplan for all internal audit units within Central Government, the audits will focus on financial management, human resource management, asset management, IT management, program management, governance and business continuity.

“As is the case with last year's work plan, financial management systems continues to have the highest level of assessed risk. As such, 98 out of the 137 planned audits relate to financial management with specific focus on expenditure, procurement and revenue controls.” explained Chasambira

Apart from the audit assignments, the Internal Audit Service will undertake other activities that support the provision of internal audit assignments including continuous auditing of IFMIS and HRMIS using ACL software. The ACL software will enable the internal audit service to timely detect erroneous and potentially fraudulent transactions within IFMIS.
